Science/The Way Things Work

The Quest Science Department seeks to integrate Quest’s game-based learning principles with student-led inquiry. Students initiate their own exploration of scientific concepts that are taught using a variety of models, games, and experiments. Students might explore simple machines and physics by creating their own Rube Goldberg machines in Middle School; or design and present their own experiment on climate change using actual mathematical models used by researchers at top universities. At the high school level, various electives are offered, such as Environmental Science and Aquatic Ecology. Exceptional students have the opportunity to take college-level science courses that includes AP Biology and AP Environmental Science offered in alternating years.
